What are some terms for Static Electricty, electrostatics, removing static electricity?
- Static Electricity: An imbalance of electric charges within or on the surface of a material. This charge remains until it can move away via an electric current or electrical discharge.
- Electrostatic Discharge (ESD): The sudden flow of electricity between two electrically charged objects caused by contact, an electrical short, or dielectric breakdown. This can damage sensitive
electronics
.
- Contamination: In an industrial context, this refers to dust and particles that are attracted to surfaces due to static charges, often leading to product defects in printing or painting.
- Ionization Balance: The ability of an ionizer to produce equal amounts of positive and negative ions. If unbalanced, the ionizer itself could potentially induce a charge. Some ionizers are designed to produce one polarity to put a charge into material.
- Ionizer: A device that adds or removes electrons from the gas molecules, creating ions that neutralize static charges on non-conductive materials.
Anti-Static Bars
: Linear devices that generate a field of concentrated ions to neutralize surfaces as they pass by, commonly used in high-speed web processing.
-
Ionization Blowers
: Fans that distribute ionized air over a larger area. These are available in
Table Top
or
Overhead
configurations to protect entire workstations.
-
Ionization Blow-Off Guns
: Handheld tools that use compressed ionized air to simultaneously neutralize static and blow away physical
contamination
.
-
Web Cleaners
: Systems designed to remove dust and neutralise static on continuous rolls of material (webs). They can be "Contact" (using rollers) or "Non-Contact" (using air and vacuum).
-
Static Neutralizing Nozzles: Small, point-source ionizers, such as
anti-static nozzles
, used for targeted static elimination in tight spaces or automated machinery.
-
Conductive vs. Non-Conductive: Conductive materials (like metal) allow charges to flow to ground easily. Non-conductive materials (like plastics or glass) hold charges, requiring
active ionization
to neutralize.
-
Grounding: The process of connecting a conductive object to the earth to safely dissipate electrical charges. Grounding is not effective with non conductive materials such as paper, plactics and glass.

ElectroStatics, Inc. designs and manufactures products to control static electricity and reduce contamination. We offer a wide range of products to control static electricity and reduce contamination for industries working with non conductive materials and to remove static from plastic.
ElectroStatics, Inc will also build custom versions of our static control can cleaning equipment for your application.
ElectroStatics, Inc has the technology (anti static bars, ionization blowers, ionization static control blow off guns, web cleaners, sheet cleaners, static meters, charging and high speed static control systems) and the application engineering experience to help customers manage the problems caused by static electricity and to remove the related contamination.
Industry, in general, has been plagued with static electricity and it's related particulate attraction. ElectroStatics Incorporated is dedicated to providing each industry with a complete system of static eliminators and cleaning systems for the control of these problems.
Static electricity manifests itself in many ways i.e. Material stick together, fly apart, attract contamination and generally misbehave. When static is present, process equipment will not perform as the manufacturer has designed. Speeds must be lowered, waste is increased because the product is damaged, downtime is also increased anti static blower clear jam-ups or clean particulate from printing cylinder. The attraction of contamination to plastic and other nonconductors requires added time for cleaning in preparation for decorating, filling or packaging. All of the static related problems add to the enormous burden of product manufacturing.
ElectroStatics can help you save time and money by removing static electricity for your process.
